Buddha’s Birthday is one of the most colorful festivals and is a holiday all across Korea.

During the Goryeo Dynasty (918 - 1392), when Buddhism was the state religion, colorful lanterns were strung and festivities were held across the country from palaces to small villages. This traditional festival is enjoyed by all today.
The highlight of this festival is making lanterns and placing them around temple buildings and in many places around the streets.

It is celebrated nationwide and also on Jeju.
